Mr. Ansu S. TuckerHe was appointed Director General of the Human Resource Management Office (HRMO) on 25th April, 2018. He holds a Master of Arts Degree from Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone, where he also acquired his Bachelor’s Degree in 1991. He also has a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM) and he is a Post–Graduate Hubert Humphrey Fellow in Governance and Public Sector Management from the Evans School of Public Policy, University of Washington in the USA. Mr. Tucker holds many managerial, professional and other educational certificates acquired in and outside of Sierra Leone. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), UK, the Commissioner of Oath in Sierra Leone and also the Vice President for West-African Chapter of the African Public Sector Human Resource Managements Network.
Mr. Tucker has to his credit, numerous policy inputs on Public Sector and Civil Service reforms, World Bank and EU program evaluations including designing, organising and managing multi sectoral development programmes. He has over 28 years working experience as a distinguished civil servant in Sierra Leone and is currently the Imprest Administrator for EU Multi Annual Programme Estimate (MAPE) Project support to Public Service Commission and HRMO in the EU Governance Reform Agenda in Sierra Leone under the 11th European Union Development Fund (EDF).
He joined the Sierra Leone Civil Service as an Administrative Officer (Cadet) in May, 1993 in the then Establishment Secretary’s Office and rose through the rank and file of the Administrative Service becoming a Senior Assistant Secretary in December 2000, Deputy Establishment Secretary II from July 2005 - November 2008 in charge of discipline, leave, retirement, and pension/gratuity, HR Planning and Budgeting, etc. He briefly worked at the Ministry of Agriculture and was recalled to the Establishment Secretary’s Office and became the first Director of HR Planning and Budgeting, following the transformation of the Establishment Secretary’s Office into the Human Resource Management Office. In March, 2016, he was posted to the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development as Principal Deputy Financial Secretary (PDFS) where he served for two excellent years on to April, 2018 when he was appointed as Director-General of the HRMO.
Mr. Tucker has keen interest and deep commitment to good governance and civil service reforms. In recognition of his professionalism, extensive work and passion for issues of civil service and public sector management, he has received several outstanding local and international awards as a consummate civil servant in Sierra Leone. He has great passion for human capital development and knowledge transfer and has participated as a facilitator in numerous training and induction programmes for young officers. He has introduced a number of innovations in HRMO since he assumed office including decentralising HR Management and taking capacity building and outreach to the regions.
