The Director General of the Human Resource Management Office and Imprest Administrator of the EU, Multi Annual Program Estimate, Mr.Ansu Samuel Tucker said the ongoing reform exercise in the Sierra Leone Civil Service is to enhance best practice in line with the government development aspiration. Addressing administrative and professional heads in the various ministries, departments and agencies of government at a Leadership workshop held recently at the Civil Service Training College, Mr. Tucker, highlighted the current review on the Civil Service Code, Regulations and Rules, the introduction of the Individual Performance Appraisal System (IPAS), which will be accompanied with sanction and reward and the Competency Framework, which will be used to determine promotions and career development, as very strategic in enhancing effective and efficient service delivery in the civil service. The Secretary to Cabinet and Head of the Civil Service, Mr. John Sumaila spoke on the importance of the civil service in the overall development of a nation as it is responsible to advice government, formulate and implement policies for the smooth running of the state. He encouraged civil servants to work together to promote national development in line with the introduction of the new reforms in the civil service. Senior Civil Servants at the Leadership Workshop acclaimed the introduction of reforms in the civil service and called for the enactment of the Wages and Compensation Bill.The ongoing reform exercise in the Sierra Leone Civil Service is supported by the EU, through it's Multi Annual Program Estimate.
